Coming Together: Interprofessional Education Initiative
Forty students from all disciplines, Applied Health Sciences, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, and Pharmacy came together on Jan. 28, 2015 in the College of Nursing's Christine Schwartz Experiential Learning Center to go through a simulation training experience. The purpose was to strengthen their ability to collaborate with peers and learn from one another while providing efficient and effective patient care. Each group went through five simulation stations over the course of the evening. These varied from an infant’s medical crisis to a community health panel. Students were able to bond and support one another within their interprofessional teams. They also learned how to work with people from diverse backgrounds while under high pressure and critical thinking situations.
