  • Registration is now available for the Physical Examination Class.  The class combines the best of both worlds:  All material is available online in an interactive format -- plus two days with faculty for demos, practice & questions.


  • Speakers talking to students on the 3rd fl event center.Nurse managers shared advice on job search strategies and how to succeed in the field.  The event took place on Monday, April 10th, in the 3rd Floor Event Center.


  • The UIC College of Nursing held its Annual World Health Day celebration on Monday, April 3, 2017. This year’s event theme was “Depression, Let’s Talk.” The keynote speaker, Dr. Frances Hughes, CEO of the International Council of Nurses, spoke on the global impact of mental health issues.


  • The Alumni and Student Reception was held on Wednesday, March 29 at Revolution Brewing (2323 N. Milwaukee Ave.) The event provided an opportunity to network and mingle with students, alumni, and faculty while enjoying appetizers and libations, tour the facility, and celebrate alumni with milestone anniversaries.

  • The UIC CON Job Fair was held on Tuesday, Feb. 28th from 10:30am-12:30pm.  It was open to all current students and alumni.

  • Standings of both the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program and the Master’s program at the UIC College of Nursing rose significantly in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings of graduate schools, released this Tuesday (3/14).

  • Student Research Day 2017 was held on Friday, March 3, 2017.  It began at 9am with presentations given concurrently in three different locations.  JoEllen Wilbur, PhD '84, MS '75 was the keynote speaker.  Her presentation was titled, "Love self, embrace health: The Women’s Lifestyle Physical Activity Program - 25 years of improving midlife women’s health".  Following the keynote presentation, research awards were given out.

  • Karyn Holm, PhD, RN, FAAN, FAHA, a distinguished nurse scholar who has served in leadership positions at DePaul University, the University of Illinois at Chicago, and Loyola University Chicago, and her husband Terrance, have generously established this annual award in honor of their parents.  

    The award is designed to create opportunities for researchers from across the country and around the world to utilize the Midwest Nursing History Research Center’s collections as well as other Chicago-area nursing and healthcare archives. The selected scholar will receive a travel and lodging stipend of up to $1,500.

    Researchers at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Nursing have developed a free mobile app for individuals suffering from dementia, their families and caregivers, as a way to improve the quality-of-life, well-being and knowledge of the disease that affects nearly 48 million people worldwide.

  • The UIC College of Nursing is one of only 28 nursing schools nationwide to receive a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Future of Nursing Scholars program, which provides  financial support, mentoring and leadership development to nurses who commit to earn their PhDs in three years. The college has received the Future of Nursing Scholars grant every year since the program was inaugurated in 2014.
