  • Lorna Finnegan, associate professor and executive associate dean at the UIC College of Nursing, was one of just 30 academic nurse leaders selected from across the nation to participate in the 2018 Wharton Executive Leadership Program this August, which is presented by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.



  • A full 40 percent of those named to the Illinois Nurses Foundation’s 2018 "40 Under 40 Emerging Nurse Leaders" are alumni, faculty members and/or students of the UIC College of Nursing.






  • Ardith DoorenbosAs part of a University of Illinois System initiative to recruit world-class faculty, the UIC College of Nursing has hired Ardith Z. Doorenbos as a Nursing Collegiate Professor.




  • Kelly D. Rosenberger, clinical assistant professor and director of the College of Nursing's Rockford Campus, has been selected as one of 64 nurse practitioner leaders nationwide for induction as a fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

  • UIC Nursing Dean Terri Weaver and associte dean for research Eileen Collins were both inducted into the first class of fellows of the American Thoracic Society.




  • Phoenix MatthewsPhoenix Matthews, PhD, a College of Nursing professor whose research is aimed at reducing cancer-related health disparities, has been chosen to receive the 2018 UIC College of Nursing Distinguished Researcher Award.




  • Susan WalshSusan M. Walsh, clinical assistant professor, has received the 2018 Institute of Medicine of Chicago Global Humanitarian Award.




  • Eighteen UIC College of Nursing students completed a clinical rotation in Cook County Jail during the spring semester. The public health practicum is one of three justice health initiatives of the UIC College of Nursing that are getting a boost under a one-year grant from the Rita and Alex Hillman Foundation.


  • Having welcomed its first students in fall 2017 at the Rockford Campus, the College of Nursing's concentration in rural nursing is now available to DNP students at any of the six UIC Nursing campuses.\
