2016 Nurse Manager Panel


The CON Nurse Manager Panel took place on March 1st in the 3rd Floor Event Center, Chicago.  Nurse Managers shared advice on job search strategies and how to succeed in the field. This event was hosted by the UIC College of Nursing Office of Academic Program.

Dr. Paula P. Meier Receives 2016 Judith L. Storfjell Distinguished Award for Scholarly Practice

Meier, PhD, BSN ’71, RN, FAAN will receive the UIC College of Nursing Judith Lloyd Storfjell Distinguished Award for Scholarly Practice.  The award recognizes a UIC College of Nursing faculty or alumnus who has made an outstanding contribution to nursing practice.  Dr. Meier is most deserving of this prestigious honor.

Dr. Valerie Gruss to Receive Teaching Recognition Program (TRP) Award

Dr. Valerie Gruss has been selected to receive the 2015-2016 Teaching Recognition Program (TRP) Award. The Teaching Excellence Review Committee (TERC) concluded that Valerie’s teaching is an excellent example of the high quality of instruction that characterizes the best of UIC and was impressed with the range of her teaching activities and program development.

 

Dr. Shannon Zenk - 2016 UIC Rising Star Award

Dr. Shannon Zenk is the recipient of the 2016 UIC Rising Star Award. This award is given to only 5 UIC early career researchers/scholars who have demonstrated outstanding promise to become future leaders in their area of expertise. Shannon shows more than outstanding promise to become a future leader in her area of science - she is already there! She is at the forefront of science on neighborhood environments, particularly the food environment and health. Her work has significant international impact on policy and environmental changes. As noted in the award announcement below, she has published 64 peer reviewed articles, 7 book chapters, and has been PI or Co-I on grants totaling over $42 million.
