Bio

At Integrated Health Care at Mile Square, a nurse managed clinic through the College of Nursing Institute for Health Care Initiatives, I practice as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner providing the full spectrum of behavioral health care service from prevention to treatment. I use interpersonal skills of service engagement to help persons with mental illness achieve their personal goals. In my faculty role, I share my caseload with graduate students and together we treat the whole person within an integrated model of service delivery. I work with students at all levels from RN continuing education, through a grant with the Department of Mental Health, to Doctor of Nursing Science students working with each student toward achievement of their career aspirations with the end goal to ensure that safe quality health care is accessible to those who suffer from mental illness in our communities.

Current Area of Teaching

Program director for the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program. I teach within this program primarily the diagnostic course NUSP 527 and provide clinical supervision through practicum courses as well as precept students in my clinical practice .

Service / Practice

I am a board member for the Illinois Chapter - American Psychiatric Nurses Association Illinois Chapter and Sigma Theta Tau Alpha Lamba Chapter. I am the clinical lead for the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners who practice at Integrated Health Care at Mile Square, a nurse managed clinic through the College of Nursing Institute for Health Care Initiatives and provide care the full spectrum of behavioral health care service from prevention to treatment at the Mile Square Main site.
