Catherine F. Yonkaitis, DNP, RN, NCSN

I am a content expert in school nursing, and a child health champion, working with several initiatives to advance school nursing and school health. My goal is to advance school nurse knowledge as a means to improve the health outcomes for student and school populations.

I hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing from the University of Connecticut and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice in Advanced Population Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago. I am nationally certified in school nursing and hold a Illinois professional educators license in school nursing. Throughout my career I have worked in both education and community settings; the last 14 years in school nursing, 9 as the director of the School Nurse Certificate program at UIC.

Current Area of Teaching

I coordinate the School Nurse Certificate program for the College of Nursing, including program recruitment and admissions.

Lead instructor for NUPR 514- School Nursing Internship

Service / Practice

I am an executive board member of the Illinois Association of School Nurses and a member of the National Association of School Nurses. I am the discussion list manager for the Illinois Association of School Nurses member listserv.
