Bio

When displaced from her native New England Mrs. Yonkaitis landed in suburban Chicago and in a school nurse position.  Her passion to work with students, families and the school community blossomed.  Her skills in community assessment have further fueled her desire to help school nurses develop their skill and knowledge in the area of direct and population-based care of school children.

Current Area of Teaching

Mrs. Yonkaitis coordinates the School Nurse Certificate program for the College of Nursing, including recruiting and admission to the program.

In addition she is the instructor for the clinical internship portion of the school nurse certificate program, Mrs. Yonkaitis oversees the 300 hour internship and helps bridge the theory to practice gap for our school nurse interns. The online program uses virtual classrooms and discussion board to assist students to share experiences and resources.
