Dr. Elaine Hardy Named Director of UIC CON Peoria Campus
Dr. Elaine Hardy will be joining us from Illinois State University (ISU) where she serves as an Assistant Professor. Her predominant scholarship is teaching and practice in the context of influencing nursing practice and health care. As an emerging scholar, Dr. Hardy has been disseminating her scholarship through refereed publications, an evidence-based protocol with the Johanna Briggs Institute, and many national and regional presentations. She is the faculty evaluator on a HRSA Nursing Workforce Diversity Grant, the PROUD program, which focuses on recruitment and retention of underrepresented groups to the nursing profession, as well as leadership development throughout the educational experience. She received the ISU Diversity Advocacy Award for her work on this program.
Dr. Hardy has garnered other well deserved recognition for her accomplishments. She was recently designated the honor of becoming a Sigma Theta Tau International Nurse Faculty Leadership Academy Scholar and was recognized as an American Nurse Education Scholar from the American Nurses Association. Dr. Hardy is a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Cancer Education, founded the Central Illinois chapter of the Black Nurses Association and, she previously served as Co-chair of the Women’s Health & transitions in Childbearing Section Association of Black Academic Employees. Dr. Hardy’s clinical practice is community based, focusing on outreach and mentoring women of color in various community groups.
Dr. Hardy will be a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Health System Science.
