She has spent several years overseas in Russia and Central Asia in the late 90s early 2000’s which have informed her views on nursing, healthcare delivery systems, and the role of culture as it impacts access to care and disparities among underserved populations. Karyn has a strong interest in looking into the possibilities of utilizing technology to help decrease these disparities, particularly among the pediatric population. She is passionate about teaching clinical and using simulation to improve students' critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills, and is a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator. She is currently in the PhD program at UIC CON.
