Dr. Cynthia Reese: "UIC College of Nursing is the flagship institution for nursing throughout the state of Illinois. Ed Curtis is the president and CEO of Memorial Health System. And it's Ed's vision to create a pipeline of Nurses to provide healthcare for the citizens in the central Illinois area.
Memorial Health System is helping to make this happen through their generous gift to get the Springfield regional campus going. I see this partnership as being mutually beneficial. Memorial Health System is going to be able to sustain our program at UIC through helping students financially with scholarships but they're also going to offer clinical placement sites for our students as well as they're allowing us to use their laboratory and simulation facility.
And in turn, UIC College of Nursing will be providing to Memorial well educated leaders and they will be able to take care of patients at the bedside, they'll be able to function in the community, and overall make a difference in the healthcare of the citizens of central Illinois."
