UIC College of Nursing White Coat Ceremony

The White Coat Ceremony at the UIC College of Nursing is for incoming BSN and graduate entry students.  The latest ceremony was held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 beginning at the Student Center West in Chicago.  There was a small reception in the College of Nursing lobby/courtyard immediately following the ceremony.

The White Coat Ceremony symbolizes the student’s life transition into nursing education and affirms their commitment to becoming a professional nurse who provides compassionate and high quality care.  In addition to “cloaking” with their CON lab coats, each student will receive a lapel pin and collectively recite the UIC CON Oath -- adapted from the Florence Nightingale Pledge and the American Nurses Association Code for Nurses.
