Award Winning Students at UIC College of Nursing
In addition to our award-winning faculty, we also have award-winning students here at the College of Nursing. This month alone, several students have been identified as recipients of significant honors, internships and even monetary prizes.
CON student Allyson Joyce, for example, is being inducted into the University's Activities Honorary Society (AHS). Induction into this Society is in recognition of undergraduate students whose participation in a variety of student organizations on campus contributes to a better UIC community.
Marizthel Loyola, also a CON student, was recently named as one of eight winners of the 2015 Laurette Kirstein Scholarship. This is an award going to international students who display academic excellence. The $5,000 which each recipient receives goes to pay their tuition, books and other living expenses.
Finally, Nadia Winston, one of our graduate entry students, has been chosen for the prestigious OSHA Nurse in Washington internship. The internship, which for Nadia will take place this summer, integrates occupational health theory with professional practice. Students emerge with experience in occupational health and safety policy and regulatory affairs at the national level.
