Two Faculty and Two Alumnae Selected As Fellows of AAN
Two distinguished faculty members from the College of Nursing, as well as two outstanding alumnae, have been selected by the American Academy of Nursing (AAN) to join its Class of 2017 fellows. Fellowship in the AAN is considered the highest honor in the nursing profession.
Shannon Zenk, PHD, MPH, RN, FAAN, professor in the Department of Health Systems Science, has been selected as a Nursing Collegiate Professor. This is one of the highest honors in the UIC College of Nursing, offered to faculty members who demonstrate a record of excellence in research, scholarship and teaching.
Since 1966, the Silver Circle Award has been presented to some of UIC’s best teachers. Winners, who are honored at their college commencements, receive $500 and their names join a long list of distinguished colleagues. But what makes the award especially meaningful is its selection committee: the graduating seniors.
Congratulations to Professor Holli A. DeVon, PhD, RN, FAHA, FAAN for being selected to receive the Fulbright award to Rwanda from the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. As a Fulbright recipient and a representative of the United States, Dr. DeVon will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with international partners in educational, political, cultural, economic, and scientific fields.
