Bio

My research is focused on disparities in health experienced by midlife African American women and physical activity, as well as improving workforce diversity in healthcare and higher education. I have recently duplicated my dissertation research in central Illinois, and would like to replicate the study in Pittsburgh, PA. Findings from these studies will provide a basis for developing a culturally targeted intervention in physical activity among African American women. I am the founder of a local chapter of the National Black Nurses Association in Central Illinois, and was the program evaluator for the HRSA Nursing Workforce Diversity grant, working with underrepresented, underserved, undergraduate nursing students.
