Welcome to the Department of Biobehavioral Health Science. Our department focuses on advancing biological, behavioral, and clinical science for the understanding, care, and treatment of adults with complex health disorders.

I would like to invite you visit our Academic Programs page to learn about our Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AG-PCNP) and Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG-ACNP) programs.  Our AG-ACNP program is ranked 10th in the nation by U.S. News and World Report for 2017.  For more than 10 years, we have been educating nurses in these two areas. We are also fortunate to have a wide-base of clinical sites and wonderful preceptors who mentor our students in the clinical practicums. Practice opportunities include care for adults between 18 and 100 years of age in practice settings that include urgent care, palliative care, acute care, specialty clinics and the community.

The BHS department is a vibrant community of educators and scholars many of whom are recipients of several UIC teaching awards, such as the Silver Circle and Graduate Mentoring Award, and distinguished science and service awards. We are leaders in research and education and serve on national research and professional boards, such as the National Institutes of Health Scientific Review Committee and the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties.

Come learn, create, and discover with us. Our application deadline is January 15, 2017.

The success of our academic programs are in part dependent on our excellent and array of clinical partner preceptors! If you are interested in serving as a preceptor, please visit our Preceptor page!
